News Release: Martin Luther King Dare to Dream Association, Inc.
The . (MLK Dare to Dream Association), Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority (TDIA), Cumulus Broadcasting,The City of Tallahassee, and CRA are pleased to announce the 2nd annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Festival – Monday, January 20, 2014 – from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Kleman Plaza.
The event will follow the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., memorial march that happens each year in Tallahassee. The festival will allow the community to gather in fellowship to continue the recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a way to celebrate his dream and inspire others to pursue their own dreams.
There will be a sound stage hosted by Shonda Knight, WCTV and Shawn D; musical performances featuring The Mad Violinist (Ashanti Floyd originally from Tallahassee) and the Symphony Crack Orchestra along with other local artists ; and cultural performances. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy.
The festival will also feature an MLK Birthday Bash for kids with bouncers and games, food, vendors, and a historical exhibit by the FAMU Meek-Eaton Black Archives and the Riley House.
In addition, the festival will include the City of Tallahassee’s annual Day of Dialogue which will be held on the plaza. There is something for everyone!
