Midway Is Turning Purple To 'Zero Tolerance On domestic Violence'

Posted: Thu 10:39 PM, Oct 04, 2012

Quincy, FL - The City of Midway will be changing colors.

Administrators with the City of Midway are changing the flood lights at city hall and the police department to purple. This is to highlight October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

It is a part of a statewide campaign spearheaded by the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Jerome Turner, Midway Police Department says, "it's a hidden problem. A lot of people don't see the actual victims. A lot of times people think the victims of domestic violence are just the husband, the wife, the boyfriend, the girlfriend. It's actually a lingering effect when it comes to the children. At the end of the day, the children of today are of course our leaders of tomorrow."

The Quincy Police Department has several events scheduled this month for domestic violence awareness.
