Statement from Rick Minor
After considerable thought and discussion with my family, I've decided to withdraw my candidacy for Tallahassee City Commission, Seat 2. There wasn't any one single thing that has caused me to arrive at this conclusion, but the overall dynamics of the race have changed.
I continue to believe that I was the most qualified and most capable candidate for the City Commission. And make no mistake about it – there remains a path to victory for us, but it would now require me to forego employment and become a full-time candidate for the next seven months. With my family obligations, this isn't something I can do. At this point, I must focus on providing for my family and determining my next steps over the next few months as I transition out of my role as Chief of Staff at City Hall.
Words can't express how grateful I am for the support you have given this campaign, and I've been inspired by the number of Tallahasseeans who have discussed with me their ideas and aspirations for our city's future. Engaging in these conversations, and talking about our shared love for Tallahassee, have been the best, most unforgettable moments of this race.
Of course, my dedication to this community is as strong as ever. I do feel that public service is in my blood and at some point I hope to run for office again. When and if that happens, I hope I might be able to earn your support once more.
Over the next several days, we'll be closing out the campaign and sending a refund to those of you who made a contribution. Thank you for your help and for providing so much encouragement to me, Jessica, and Madeline. It means more to us than you know, and we are truly blessed to have you as a friend.
