Tallahassee, FL- The Bolander family is a busy one, and very close-knit. They enjoy eating together, playing games, and are always joking with one another.

Parents Willy and Kristen have one biological child, and adopted four others. They say being parents was a calling.

"There is a need for someone to hug them and say I love you," said Kristen Bolander, mother of four.

Kristen Bolander says it has been at times challenging. She adopted two sisters after their rough upbringing with their biological parents.

"She did not let us have food and Pepper got her belly swollen, so I had to go on the counter top and crawl on the counter top to get food for her," said Lisa Bolander, reminiscing on her rough upbringing.

Kristen says she never wants them to ever have to go through that again.

"Overcoming the abuse and neglect that they had experienced was so challenging and sometimes I just wanted to run into a room and scream, but they are so strong and they are so thankful for what they have now," said Kristen Bolander, while crying about what her two adopted daughters went through.

"The need is there and the need is really, really urgent," said Willy Bolander.
