Print
Updated: Thu 6:22 PM, Feb 07, 2013

The Black Leadership conference in Tallahassee encouraged members of the audience to get tested, get involved, and get treated for HIV and AIDS infection. Black women accounted for 69% of female HIV infection in Florida through 2011. FAMU professor Barbara Haile says that black women need to acknowledge the risks before that number can start to go down.

2013 marked 13 years that the awareness day was observed.
