WHAT: Neighborhood of the Year Program Kick Off
WHEN: Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Leon County Eastside Branch Library, 1583 Pedrick Road

The Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), Leon County and the City of Tallahassee will launch the annual Neighborhood Recognition Program on Tuesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at the Leon County Eastside Branch Library, 1583 Pedrick Road.

The library will serve as the kick-off site for the program's 33rd season honoring the accomplishments and successes of great neighborhoods. CONA President Leroy Peck, Leon County Commission Chairman Nick Maddox and City of Tallahassee Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Miller are scheduled to speak at the event. CONA, the County and City are accepting nominations for the 2013 Neighborhood of the Year and Neighbor of the Year. The Neighbor of the Year is considered to be an individual who exemplifies the characteristics of leadership and servitude in making contributions to his or her community. Additionally, CONA is accepting nominations for its 2013 Public Servant of the Year and 2013 Business Neighbor of the Year. Applications and nomination forms are available online at www.LeonCountyFL.gov for CONA. Neighborhood representatives are asked to complete and submit applications on or before the deadline: Thursday, May 2, at 5 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered.

Winners of the Neighborhood of the Year and Neighbor of the Year awards will be announced on Monday, June 10, at CONA's 33rd Annual Awards Reception, where CONA will also present its annual Public Servant of the Year and Business Neighbor of the Year awards.
