New Hospital Coming to Madison County

Updated: Thu 3:34 PM, Nov 01, 2012

Madison County received a $22 million loan from the USDA to build a new hospital.

This comes after a six year push to make it a reality in the area.

They plan to break ground on the new place November 18.

It will bring in at least 18 new jobs and more up-to-date healthcare equipment.

"For example. Emergencies. If you look at stroke care, with our new hospital, new technology, new digital equipment, this will allow us to take care of stroke patients faster," said David Abercrombie, CEO of the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Officials hope to have the hospital up and running by summer 2014.
