Families in need got a truck load of free food today (4/2).

42,000 pounds of nutritious food was passed out to the community at Rickards High School.

The distribution was all made possible by PeaceJam, which is a part of the FSU Center for Leadership and civic education.

The organization teamed up with Farm Share and students volunteered to distribute the food.

Sicily Licona, a student volunteer says,"As a community we need to support each other, as a big family we need to help out those in need."

PeaceJam has a Southeast Conference every year around this time. They pick a different organization to work with to help The Big Bend Community.

Grow your own Garden it's fun and good for kids to learn to take responsibility for them selves not just waiting for a hand out.
