Red Cross Teaches Kids Fire Safety

Do your kids know what to do in the event of a fire or an emergency? Summer Kids Day is a weekly event, sponsored by the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

The goal is to make sure both parents and children know the importance of how to get out of a fore or any other disaster that may happen. The event is free to the public. Today’s lessons were all about fire safety.

Katherine Miranda is an intern for the Red Cross and she helped organize the event,

"I do want to make sure that they leave today knowing that they have all of the knowledge for when a crisis happens in their house. I'm hoping that with all the activities that we're going to do today, they can just go back to their little fire fighter book that we have set up for them, and they're like were ready,” Miranda said.

The program is for children ages 5-12 and the next seminar will be Friday June 27th.
