Senator Tim Golden was the keynote speaker at a Blue Day Awards Ceremony for the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC).

The event culminates a month-long effort to hang large blue ribbons on lamp posts and sell small ones for a dollar.

Because the center has lost both state and local funding, lawmakers encourage area businesses to help keep the organization afloat.

"They do great work trying to help the victims of those crimes: the families and mommies and daddies that are affected by it.," says Sen. Golden (R-GA). "And brothers and sisters. That's why it's so important that we support this kind of organization."

For Blue Day, the Children's Advocacy Center raised $1,330.41 by selling blue ribbons for a dollar.
