Press Release: City of Tallahassee
The Tallahassee Senior Center is proud to host Tallahassee Community College Bands for the annual Patriotic Concert on Wednesday, July 3. This musical celebration features explosive, patriotic themed jazz and concert band music in celebration of our nation’s 237th birthday.
This red, white and blue themed event takes place in the auditorium on the second floor of the Tallahassee Senior Center, located at 1400 North Monroe Street. Festivities begin at 7:00 p.m.
The concert will feature spectacular performances by the Capital City Concert Band and the Tallahassee Community College Jazz Band. Both bands are composed of Tallahassee Community College (TCC) students and members of the local community who enjoy playing music in their free time. The groups have regular performances at TCC, as well as venues and events around the Tallahassee area.
"This concert packs the house every year. The music stirs everything ‘Americana’ in your heart, and we always have an energetic crowd, complete with aisle dancers and seat conductors who have a great time celebrating our nation,” said Sheila Salyer, director of the Senior Center. “The center is proud to host this event for the community, and we are grateful to TCC for their presentation."
This is a family-friendly event that is sure to put you in the mood for Thursday’s Fourth of July festivities. All proceeds from the concert go to support the Tallahassee Senior Center and Brehon Family Services. The suggested adult donation is $5. Children are free.
