Proctor wants voters to be informed about the candidates and issues facing those in the area.

There was also a presentation of the half penny sales tax, that would benefit Leon County Schools.

The big concern of the half penny sales tax for Leon County Schools is currently being discussed.

Tallahassee, FL - With the elections exactly three weeks away many voters are still making up their minds in local races and issues.

One of the key issues facing voters in Leon County is the renewal of the half penny sales tax.

This evening, several Leon County School officials and leaders will present the proposed renewal of the half cent sales tax at the Southside Arts Complex here in Tallahassee.

This would not be a new tax for the Leon County residents.

In fact this tax has been in place since 2002 and has generated more than 175 million dollars in improvements.

Every single school in the county has benefited in some way or another from this.

Officials estimate if the tax is renewed on November 6th it could provide more than 250 million dollars of revenue for the schools over the next 15 years.

It would cover new construction costs, technology upgrades, remodeling among other issues.

That presentation begins at 5:30 and will run until 6:45; following, a candidate forum featuring city, state and county races will begin at 7 pm.

A number of organizations are hoping today will help educate the local voter.

We'll have more on the candidate forum tonight on eyewitness news at six.
