Tallahassee—Entering 7th grade means getting new backpacks, laptops and shots. Shots? Yes, six-graders may be growing up, but they still need certain immunizations. To enter 7th grade, students need one dose of tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap) vaccine. The Tdap immunization is usually given to students when they are 11-12 years old.
The Florida Department of Health in Leon County will provide special immunization clinics during Spring Break Week, March 18-22, and on Teacher Planning Day, March 25. These free clinics, which target current 6th grade students, will take place at the Roberts & Stevens Clinic, 1515 Old Bainbridge Road. Appointments are needed for the special clinics listed below:
