Disposal services were offered for items the Waste Department usually prohibits, including large appliances and electronics.
Residents were able to drop off their items, or have someone come and pick them up.
The city says throwing these items away properly is important because many contain toxic chemicals that will leach into the ground.
This is the first of a series of 'spring cleanings' the city has scheduled.
Two more spring cleaning events are scheduled for April 2 and April 9. The collection site is the gravel lot off Jackson Street, just over the railroad tracks. The site is open from 10AM to 2PM on the scheduled dates.
