Students and faculty at Tallahassee Community College spent most of their morning volunteering at non-profit organizations across town. Places like Second Harvest of the Big Bend welcomed the volunteers with open arms.

Erika Jarman, an assistant biology professor, was inspired as a child by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to volunteer, and hopes to pass this trait on to her students.

"Martin Luther King Jr, he was definitely an inspiration for me," she said. "I learned a lot about him throughout grade school and college, so I really wanted my students to have an appreciation for him for the community and for the nation."

Volunteers from TCC also spent time at the Big Bend Homeless Coalition and the Boys and Girls Club of the Bend Bend.
