April is National Donate Life Month, and today, a local hospital held a registration drive to show appreciation to current donors.
Tallahassee Memorial Hospital also provided information about becoming a donor.
Currently, over 100,000 adults and children are waiting for life-saving organs in the US. Over 3,500 of them are registered in Florida.
"In Tallahassee, there is a family who went to Tampa to be placed on a lung transplant list just last Wednesday. In 24 hours, she received a new lung, and she's doing extremely well, all because of an organ donor," said Patty Esher, Co-Chair of Community Collaborative Donor Council.
Experts say just one organ donor can save up to 8 lives, and one tissue donor can enhance the lives of more than 50 people.
