Tallahassee, Florida --
In an effort to keep participants safe during the Florida A&M University Homecoming parade, the Tallahassee Police Department will limit vehicle traffic along West Tennessee Street and Monroe Street. Beginning at 6:30AM on Saturday, October 30th, Macomb Street from Tennessee Street to Brevard Street will be closed as parade participants begin staging for the parade. At 7:30AM, the remainder of the parade route will be closed, which includes West Tennessee Street from Macomb Street to North Monroe Street and south on Monroe Street to Gaines Street. The road closures will affect the immediate side streets as well. Motorists not attending the parade are encouraged to seek alternate routes in an effort to avoid delays. The following detours have been established in an effort to accommodate motorists:
· Eastbound: West Tennessee Street will be diverted at Stadium Drive.
· Westbound: West Tennessee Street traffic will be diverted at Gadsden Street and Calhoun Street. Apalachee Parkway traffic will be diverted onto Franklin Avenue.
· Southbound: North Monroe Street traffic will be diverted onto Sixth Avenue.
· Northbound: South Monroe Street traffic will be diverted onto Gaines Street.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 8:00AM, with the roadways returning to normal traffic flow at approximately noon.
