Tallahassee, FL - September 17, 2012

Leon County Health Department’s Office of Minority Health invites the community to celebrate Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day, on Tuesday, September 18, from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 100 East Magnolia Drive, on the corner of South Adams and Magnolia Drive. Join us in supporting this statewide campaign, which aims to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations.

Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day encourages individuals to take charge of their health by visiting a health professional (a doctor, a nurse, a dentist, a nurse practitioner, a physician’s assistant or another health provider) to get appropriate health screenings. The Office of Minority Health urges all Floridians to focus on prevention and early detection of disease and preventable conditions.

Families and friends are encouraged to make an appointment to see a physician, attend a health event in the community, or TAKE their friend, neighbor or family member to the doctor on this day. We invite Leon County residents and visitors to reach out to the populations who often delay seeking medical care in a timely fashion.
