Tallahassee mayor John Marks joined 48 mayors across Florida and more than 800 others across the country to honor members of national service organizations like AmeriCorps. Volunteers dedicate their time to community organizations like non-profits and the senior center.
"Volunteering, it just gives me joy, just helping others. To give is the power to receive, the more you give, the more you receive," said AmeriCorps volunteer Monesha Randall. Randall has been with AmeriCorps for two years.
Mayor Marks and the AmeriCorps members volunteered their own time today as well. They participated in some "Bingo" games at Tallahassee's Elder Day Stay, part of the city's Elder Care Services.
