The Tallahassee Police Department partnered with the Shred-It organization for people to discard their sensitive documents.
Drivers simply pulled up to the police station, and volunteers handled the rest from there.
Organizers say the event also gave residents a chance to support another great cause.
"We also like to partner twice a year with a nonprofit organization in the community and this spring we chose the Animal Aid Foundation which is a spay and neuture clinic off of Boone Boulevard. We see a real need for this organization to have the community connect with them," said Bonnie Bartlett, who attended the event.
Drivers also dropped off animal food, pet toys and treats to be donated to the Animal Aid Foundation.
