Tallahassee, FL - The Leadership Tallahassee and Youth Leadership Tallahassee programs partnered for a day long program designed to build a better understanding about Human Services and Civic Engagement in the city.

It included a "Dining in the Dark," lunch. The exercise showed an everyday task like eating can be very different when you're blind.

"I think that you can't anticipate what this would feel like, and it teaches you to not take the things for granted that you have everyday to make your life easier," said Jeanette, one of the participants.

"Our goal today was to help kids have a better understanding of what it takes to really be a caring community," added Youth Leadership Tallahassee curriculum chair Kim Kelling.

Other activities included riding the Star Metro bus to get to the program and networking with people already working in human services and civic engagement.
