Project Annie

Annie Johnson and several volunteers are preparing to cook Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of people in Tallahassee.

Project Annie's Thanksgiving meal will be served from 11am to 4pm Thursday at 625 W. 4th Ave. For more information call (850) 222-6133.


26th Tallahassee Thanksgiving Community Dinner

Preparations are well underway for the 26th annual Tallahassee Thanksgiving Community Dinner to be held at the Big Bend Homeless Coalition’s HOPE Community with an expected attendance of 1,000.

Leon High School Students not only raised the money to provide the turkeys, but are making cornbread stuffing to feed 1000.

2nd Helpin Catering will be smoking all turkeys in their giant smoker. Volunteers will assist with handling and unwrapping turkeys to get them in the smoker.

Lively culinary students will be making Sweet Potato Casserole for 1000 in Building 3 at Lively.

Volunteers will set up "big-top" Tents, tables & chairs and organize all the donated Jackets, blankets and other items for distribution to those in need on November 24. Final food preparation: loading the coolers with the food prepared by the schools, kitchen & dining room set-up and getting ready for guests.

Volunteers are still needed: Call 205-5228. Donations of coats, blankets, backpacks and personal hygiene items are being accepted at America's 2nd Harvest of the Big Bend (562-3033 x 202) and Premier Construction (514-1000) or may be dropped off at Big Bend Homeless coalition on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Cash donations to Big Bend Homeless Coalition will go a long way: $10 will provide 6 traditional Thanksgiving meals. Donations can be mailed to 2729 West Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, FL, 32304 or donated online at


In Valdosta, the two places below will serve a Thanksgiving lunch to anyone who wishes to enjoy a hot cooked meal or... barbecue.

From noon to 2 p.m.

The Havana First Annual Thanksgiving Feeding, sponsored by the Havana Learning Center and Searching for the One Ministry, will serve to feed the needy, elderly, non-needy, etc., on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at The Havana Cannery, 115 East 8th Avenue, Havana, Fl., from 12:00 (noon) - 2:00 p.m.

The Word Doers of Thomasville are also putting on their 6th Annual FREE Community Thanksgiving Day Meal from noon to 2pm at the Thomasville Hight school on Thanksgiving Day.
