Thomas County, GA - Some of Thomas County's finest put down their badges and put on some aprons.

Thomasville police, sheriff's deputies and narcotics agents teamed up to make a difference this holiday season.

They handed out plates filled with half smoked chicken, green beans, corn on the cob, bread and pound cake.

The Thomasville High school basketball team helped out as well.

It's all a part of their 12th annual "Law Enforcement Goodwill Project."

Proceeds go to helping needy families buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones.

"We actually go out and we actually see these children receive these gifts and it's just an awesome awesome feeling that I can't even explain it to you and that's why we continue doing it, we have a great great effort by everybody involved," said LT Wade Glover who helped out with the project.

Through the event officers say they usually raise between $7,000 and $10,000 for Thomas County families each year.
