Past mingled with present as people explored the wares offered at the 22nd Annual Thomasville Antiques Show.
Organizers say they strive to bring a variety of vendors together, and the show is widely considered to be the best south of Atlanta.
Says Show Co-chair, Sharon Maxwell-Ferguson. "We have some of the best-known names in the area of antique collecting and entertaining, and collection of art, anywhere in the world, really."
Patrons come from all over the southeast to explore relics of a bygone era, that are now even more special than when they were new.
Said one visitor from Tallahassee, "There's such a variety of beautiful paintings, and particularly silver ... there are things that you just don't see at other shows."
In addition to browsing and buying, visitors had the chance to listen to lectures about the history of Thomasville, as well art and decorating methods.
Eda Garcia volunteered at the show, but also had a chance to hear some of the speakers.
Says Garcia, "I came out for a couple of lectures and I learned so much about ... many of the families that lived here, and a lot of the older plantation homes."
Those who came to sell seemed to enjoy the event just as much as the guests.
Says Antiques Show estate jeweler Donnie Grissom, "This is my second time here -- I was here last year and it was very good -- and everyone came back to make their purchases again ... but I think it was a sign the economy is much stronger."
Devoted patrons say they can't wait for the event to come around again next year.
Organizers say over the past two decades, the show has raised over $1.5 million for local children's organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and 'Hands and Hearts for Horses'.
