Thanksgiving may still be three weeks away, but some stores in Thomasville are already getting their decorations out in anticipation of holiday shoppers.

Downtown shops are already thinking about their Christmas sales. They say they want consumers to have as much time as possible to buy gifts.

But, others say they want consumers to have the chance to enjoy Thanksgiving before they rush into the gift-giving holidays.

Lisa Taylor owns Loli's Invitations and Things downtown. She says she loves Christmas, but wants to 'enjoy the fall before [we] get out all the Christmas'.

A Gallup poll shows Americans plan to spend about $715 on holiday shopping this year, down from $740 last year.

Thomasville shopowners say though they can't control how much consumers will spend, putting decorations up helps get them into more holiday-minded spirits.
