The Center held its annual Youth Art Show, a competition for student artists in local schools to enter their work for cash and scholarships.
This year's winner, Paige Petrey, says she's had a knack for art since she was young.
Says Petrey, "When I was first in Pre-K, my teacher told me that I was the best artist she'd ever seen, and so she told me to paint a picture every day ... but I kind of dropped it 'til ... I've been doing for two years in high school."
Staff say they are continually amazed by how much creativity and ability the teenaged artists possess.
Among the entries submitted were paper maiche masks, acrylic paintings, charcoal sketches and mixed-media collages.
