Valdosta, Georgia - June 30, 2011

Valdosta firefighters Joe Stansel, 58, and Ronnie Metts, 66, are retiring.

After more than three decades of service, this was their last day working for the Valdosta Fire Department.

"You know, it's been really great to serve the citizens of Valdosta as a firefighter," says Joe Stansel, who's been with the department for 34 years. "That it went by fast serving as almost like it was a dream."

Stansel and Metts say they're looking forward to traveling and enjoying time with their grandchildren.

Here are some pictures and video. The full story will come this evening.
