Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

Tallahassee, Florida --

One family is urging drivers to wake up and smell the coffee.

Family and friends of Ronshay Dugans were giving out coffee at a rest stop on Interstate10 to urge drivers to not drive drowsy. Ronshay was killed when a drowsy driver hit the Boys and Girls Club bus she was riding in three years ago. Her family says it's preventable and they want to help.

Perry West is Ronshay's stepfather. He said, "Hopefully, people will be more safe on the roads... knowing that this is a preventable accident, and do all they can to be safe, not only for themselves but for others as well."

This week is Drowsy Driving Prevention week. Ronshay's family and friends will be hosting events and raising awareness all week.

I applaud the efforts, but tired driver's need sleep, not coffee. If you're that tired pull over and get some rest.
