Tallahassee, FL - "We are over the hill and just delighted to celebrate one of our largest Whale of a Sale's ever", says Kelly-Ann Fasano, Co-Chair of the 40th Annual Whale of a Sale.

The Junior League of Tallahassee celebrated the 40th annual Whale of a Sale event Friday. The 2-day event is the biggest and only major fundraiser for the organization.

They've got a lot of great buys at A Whale of a Sale including household goods, furniture, or maybe you need to pick up some clothes for the kids. But they've also got some of those things you may not really need, but it's fun to shop for anyway

Shoppers got some great deals on gently used items. Stores were packed with merchandise and people, all looking for a great bargain, for a great cause.

"Chances are if you've seen a non-profit around town, that benefits children and family, we've touched it in some way", says Fasano.

100% of profits from the event go to local charities. Some of Friday's shoppers say it makes them feel better knowing the money is helping others locally.

"Oh, I think it's excellent. It's just a real good, wholesome thing to do for the community. And it's always good", says Rebecca Pierce.

"I would have paid a little more even, to give back to the community, so it's really a great thing. They should keep it going", says Matthew Hovland.

If you missed the bargains Friday, don't worry, the Whale of a Sale continues Saturday at the Tallahassee Mall. Doors open at 8 am and close at 2 pm. Admission is $2 at the door.

The Junior League of Tallahassee is hosting the 40th Annual Whale of a Sale event in the Tallahassee Mall.

Junior League Co-Chair Kelly Ann Fasano says the Junior League is very proud that this even is over the hill.

She also says this is the Junior League's biggest and only major fundraiser of the year.

Crowds have started coming through and are lined up outside to shop.

These items are mostly donated by the Junior League, but they opened donations to the entire community. Most of the items are used, but are in very good condition.

The Junior League also got donations from Loli and the Bean, a local boutique, who donated boxes of jewelry for the event.

The Whale of a Sale is going on at the Tallahassee Mall until 9pm, and admission is $5.

If you can't make it tonight, you can still shop tomorrow from 8am until 2pm, and admission is only $2.

Fasano says 100% of the money raised will go back to local charities.
