Legal Services of North Florida will host its annual Jazz for Justice Benefit with all proceeds going towards providing civil legal representation to domestic violence victims, the elderly, children and poverty level families in danger of losing their homes on Sunday, May 15, 2011.

We are happy to announce our exciting line up of professional musicians coming from near and far to make Jazz for Justice the signature Tallahassee event it has grown to be.
• The Thomas University Jazz Ensemble will be playing for the VIP Champagne Reception. Guests who are sponsors or patrons of Jazz for Justice will be able to sip champagne on the lawn of Chez Pierre while listening to this great blend of area musicians. This is an encore performance for Thomas University Jazz Ensemble. They played in 2010 and were overwhelmingly asked back again this year.
• Big Daddy & Red Hot Java is our opening act at Jazz for Justice. Big Daddy and his group of hot musicians have played at every Jazz for Justice Event for 13 years bringing their Chicago Blues style performances. Everyone hits the dance floor when Big Daddy wails.
• Daddy “B” comes straight from New Orleans, Las Vegas and New York for their premiere performance at Jazz for Justice. These cool jazz performers combine the sounds of Smooth & Impromptu Jazz. We welcome Daddy “B” to Tallahassee for their first performance in the Capital City.
• Dayve Stewart & ‘The Vibe’ will be the final act at Jazz for Justice. And if you haven’t heard Dayve wail on his sax – you haven’t heard heart moving jazz. Dayve travels the world with Rev. Al Greene, but calls Tallahassee home and his support of LSNF is a testament to his good heart and great music.
• And if you are not ready to go home at 7 p.m. just follow the music down the block to the Midtown Filling Station for a Jammin After Glow with the Steffi Tassos Trio. You will delight to the beautiful voice of Steffi Tassos as she shares great jazz standards in an intimate setting. You may even see our other musicians sitting in for a few numbers as well.

Celebrating the 13th anniversary of Jazz for Justice, participants will enjoy a North
Florida afternoon filled with great jazz and bidding on unique auction items. This year’s
silent auction features fantasy trips to the Emmy Awards or Costa Rica as well as a Jazz
Cruise with David Sandborn. Gift certificates from area restaurants, jewelry, artwork and
fun gift baskets will all be available for the high bidders.

Sponsors for the 2011 Jazz for Justice include The Tallahassee Democrat, Masonry
Incorporated, Mainline Information Systems, Berger Singerman, Greenberg Traurig,
United Church in Tallahassee and 4KIDS Foundation and many more local firms,
individuals and businesses.

The 2011 Featured Artist is Ron Yradedra who created ‘The Village’ as a tribute to the
work of Legal Services of North Florida in helping our neighbors stay in their homes.
‘The Village’ has been reproduced on the 2011 tee-shirt, commemorative poster and
notecards and the signed original will be available to the highest bidder at the silent
auction.

A special presentation of the 2011 Jack McLean, Champion for Legal Services Award
will be given to Marc E. Taps, LSNF Senior Attorney for 30 years.

Patron tickets are available for $100 and include two VIP tickets and a champagne reception from 3 to 4PM. Patrons will also enjoy public recognition and sponsorship of a LSNF client family’s admission to Jazz for Justice. General admission tickets are $15 and children under 12 are free.
