Tallahassee, FL -- January 25, 2012 --

One of Tallahassee's most popular restaurants is being sold.

Eric Favier, the owner of Chez Pierre, says he is in the process of selling the restaurant. Favier, who's owned Chez Pierre for 20 years, says he feels it is finally time for him to move on.

"When we bought Chez Pierre, the goal was 10 years. We're at 20 years. So it's time for me to enjoy life," says Favier.

Favier says he won't know when his final day at the restaurant will be until the sale is complete. But he says the site will continue to operate as a restaurant once it's sold. Favier says he will keep his staff on as long as possible. For now, Favier wants everyone to know that Chez Pierre remains open for business.

Kool Beanz, Sage, Cypress, Food Glorious Food, Mozaik. For something cheaper and different: Food truck Thursdays is great. Mad About Food on Mahan is excellent as well.

@Bolillo and Phooey, You should both come check out Shula's 347 Grill. It's on the pricier side for Tallahassee (it's in Hotel Duval), but you'll get an awesome product as well as good service. I went there to eat and check it out and liked the product so much that I started working there. I'll even wait on you. Just ask for JQ and let me know it's you. If you don't like crowds though, come early (before 7) because it fills up. Hope to see you all there! @Chez Pierre, best wishes with your new owners!

There are some great places left to eat in Tallahassee. Places with great management like Shula's, Georgios, Ted's Montana Grill, and thats it.

The place used to be a funeral home. Then lawyers' offices.

Chez Pierre hasn't been good since about the early 90s after Chef Pierre Vivier left. The Faviers turned it into more of a hangout place riddled with special events but weak on the actual cuisine. I say good riddance. The location is beautiful and would be well-served by a true culinary gem. Unfortunately, hints that the buyer is going to market to the "Midtown young professionals" audience doesn't get my hopes up, nor does Tallahassee's almost complete lack of cuisine that isn't outdated or tired (Thomasville, GA and Apalachicola, FL have better restaurants).

I'll agree with you. Tallahassee is severely lacking in the GOOD restaurant area!

There is no good food after Joe's Steak House closed. They served their food with a smile, and the steak was always the way you liked it!
