Step through these doors and it's like stepping into any other classroom

Students like fifth grader Lauren Bentz are learning everything from science to social studies to her favorite subject.

"It would have to be math. At my other school math was very hard and difficult but here they cleared it out for me so I can do it easier," says Bentz.

But it's an opportunity Lauren and her classmates wouldn't have anywhere else. As each student at the learning center faces unique challenges -from autism to cerebral palsy.

"Our kids are special because they work very, very hard. They want to be successful, they want to show us each and every day what they can do," says founder Tammy McKenzie.

Since opening in 2011, the learning center has helped students like Lauren, who one day hopes to teach math, become successes in the classroom and beyond.

"I'd have to say second. I just think it's really interesting. I had a lot of fun. A bunch of arts and crafts."

On Nov. 7 there will be a golf tournament at the Killearn Country Club to benefit the center. For more information on the golf tournament or how to donate, log onto www.progressivepediatric.org or see the attached documents above.
