Mental health experts from across Florida and the United States gathered in Tallahassee Wednesday.
It was the first Mental Health and Addiction Disorders Science Summit.
About 130 experts from various fields attended.
They discussed various mental health illnesses and diseases, like depression. And treatments for them.
"That's our purpose today in meeting is educating the public as to what are the signs and symptoms, where you go for treatment and the types of treatment people should expect," says Karen Koch of the Florida Council for Community Mental Health.
Drug and alcohol abuse were also topics of discussion. Koch says she hopes the summit becomes and annual event.
