Prescribed Fire Awareness Week in Florida.

Sunday marks the first day of Prescribed Fire Awareness Week in Florida.

The event is run by Department of Agriculture. It says prescribed burns help control disease in trees and maintain forest growth. It also says controlled burns are the help lower the the risk of forest fires. It runs from January 22 through January 28.

    What would help with "awareness" would be getting a warning before they do them, rather than waking up to a surprise smoke haze in the morning. I know they send out special text alerts to asthmatics who register, but it needs to be alerted in the general media too.
