The number of tourist visiting Florida is up.
According to 'Visit Florida', nearly 86 million people came to the sunshine state in 2011. It's the largest number of visitors the state's seen in sixteen years.
"With it being the foundation of the economy, With the fact that we've had excess inventory and pent up demand, those that are in the business or have benefited from the business should see increase volume and increase sales," says Chris Thompson of Visit Florida.
Thompson says tourism accounts for nearly a quarter of the state's sales tax revenue. And helps employee over one million Floridians. Thompson credits the improving economy for the jump in visitors.
