JACKSON CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- An 8-year-old girl was seriously injured in an accidental shooting in Jackson County Sunday evening.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened at a home off Hwy 73 S near the Jackson-Calhoun County line.
Deputies say the girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but was later transported to Pensacola for pediatric care. JCSO says the girl is in stable condition, but is still undergoing treatment for her injuries.
Investigators believe the girl was shot as a result of a negligent discharge. JCSO says no arrests have been made at this time.
