TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- When talking about the Florida State running back corps, four words will suffice: Get your popcorn ready.
The running back duo of Cam Akers and Jacques Patrick might be one of the most exciting tandems in the ACC, if not the entire country.
Akers racked up over 1,000 yards on the ground in his freshman year a season ago, breaking the school's freshman rushing record (previously held by Dalvin Cook).
Once Akers hits the hole and has space to work, he's going to and there's a good chance he wont be getting caught. His combination of speed, shiftiness and strength could very well make him the most important returning Seminole this season.
Having said all that, incoming senior Patrick isn't a slouch. He accounted for seven scores in 2017 while adding over 700 yards from scrimmage.
While he's trustworthy with the ball in his hands, he's also a threat on the outside, as he hauled in 21 catches for 171 yards to help out James Blackman.
Together, the duo combined for over 1,800 yards and 14 touchdowns and each averaged over five yards per carry.
With this two-headed tandem, the Noles will have plenty of gas in the tank in 2018.
