TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Leon County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect who was caught on camera in an attempted armed robbery.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on April 3rd at the San Marco Shell gas station at 4620 Woodville Highway.

Deputies say a black male suspect entered the store with a gun and attempted to rob the clerk. The clerk held the door to the cash register shut and defeated the suspect's efforts.

While attempting to gain entry, the clerk saw the suspect pull the trigger of his firearm and heard a click, but deputies say the weapon appears to have misfired or was improperly loaded.

LCSO shared video of the frightening ordeal to Facebook:

Officials are now looking for the suspect.

Deputies say the suspect is approximately 5'5" tall with a medium build, and was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, red capri style shorts, black and white sneakers, and a mask. LCSO says the mask appears to be similar to ones seen in the movie, "The Purge."

Anyone with information on the crime or the suspect is asked to call Detective Paul Salvo at (850) 606-3407, or to remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward up to $3,000 call Big Bend Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS (8477).
