TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Former Leon County Commissioner Bob Rackleff has filed to run for Congress in Florida's 2nd District. The seat is currently held by Republican Neal Dunn.

Rackleff qualified as a candidate for the August 28th Democratic Primary after filing with Florida’s Division of Elections on Monday morning.

“I’m running to help win back Congress for the working families of North Florida. To stop the assault on affordable health care, to create good-paying jobs especially in rural communities and to represent everyone in the district, not just those who support me,” Rackleff said in a statement.

Rackleff, a Florida State University graduate, served as a Leon County Commissioner from 1998 to 2010.

He will challenge U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, who has represented Florida's 2nd Congressional District since 2017, succeeding Gwen Graham.
