Tavon Jackson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The family of Javona Glover is now breathing a sigh of relief after receiving the news that the suspected killer of Glover is now dead. Tavon Jackson’s body was found less than a half mile from the murder scene on Tuesday night after police say they were investigating the area on an unrelated case.

The body, found behind Players Club Apartments, is believed to have been there for months. Officials aren’t confirming if it was a suicide or homicide yet, but they say Jackson was wearing the same clothes as the day of the murder.

"We are continuing to look at it as if it was a suicide but it could also be a homicide that someone is trying to make look like a suicide. We believe that he has been in that area or there in the woods since around the time of the murder, very close to it," said Dave Northway of Tallahassee Police Dept.

The site where Jackson was found is sandwiched right between an apartment complex and a shopping center. Residents who live and work in the area say crime there is pretty average, but nothing like this has ever hit so close to home.

"It’s kind of terrifying, especially because the cops couldn’t tell us anything, we had to find out through the news that we were living like, 50 yards from where a body was found," said Tricia Henkle, who lives in Players Club Apartments.

Glover’s family was left devastated six months ago when she was stabbed to death while at work. Now, the family says they’re just happy to finally have some answers.

"We've put in a lot of work trying to find this guy. I'm happy that it’s over, that he has been found," said Glover’s mother, Jennifer Battles.

When she received a text from TPD urging them to speak immediately, Battles knew Tuesday was the day she would finally find peace.

"This is the outcome that I wanted, I didn't want a long trial, I wanted it to be a clean easy break and it doesn't get any cleaner than this," Battles said.

The family said they have been living in fear after Jackson allegedly killed Javona.

"I'm happy that he is no longer among us and we can move on, I’m not constantly looking over my shoulder when I’m coming over," said Johnnie Brown, Javona’s grandmother.

This family says it’s their faith that has gotten them through the hard time.

"I had faith in God that it was going to come an end and closure and peace, and whatever silver lining, whatever peace we need to learn from this," said Lataya Kiser, Battles’ best friend.

The family said they’re now looking forward to moving on begin the healing process. Although Battles says she will always miss her daughter, she is hoping Javona’s story will help other women in violent relationships seek help.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- We're learning new details surrounding the death of a Tallahassee murder suspect.

Police discovered the body of 25-year-old Tavon Jackson on Tuesday.

Jackson was identified by police as the suspect in the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Javona Glover at the Walgreens where she worked on West Tennessee Street in August 2016.

Jackson's body was found in a wooded area next to the Players Club apartment complex on Ocala Road, less than a mile from where the murder took place.

Tallahassee Police say Jackson appeared to be wearing the same clothing as the day of the murder, and the condition of his body suggests it had been there for a long time.

TPD said Tuesday that Jackson's death appeared to be a suicide, but that the investigation is ongoing.

TPD Officer Dave Northway says, "We are continuing to look at it as if it was a suicide but it could also be a homicide that someone is trying to make look like a suicide. We believe that he has been in that area or there in the woods since around the time of the murder, very close to it."
