TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Rick Minor announced Thursday that he will run for seat 3 on the Tallahassee City Commission.

Minor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Big Bend’s nonprofit food bank. He's also a former Chief of Staff to the Mayor’s Office.

Minor is a native Floridian and lives in Tallahassee with his wife and young daughter.

“Tallahassee is a great place to live, and there's no place I'd rather raise my daughter,” said Minor. “But our City Commission needs a fresh voice that will put Tallahassee’s citizens above all else."

If elected, he says his focus will be on reducing crime, strengthening neighborhoods, helping local businesses create jobs, and establishing ethics reform that restores confidence in city government.

“People want a Commissioner who is dedicated, reasonable and effective, and I'm going to be that type of Commissioner,” said Minor.

The position is currently held by Nancy Miller, who announced she will not be running for re-election.
