TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The City of Tallahassee has contracted Harrison Sale McCloy law firm to conduct a “fact finding” investigation into allegations made against City Manager Rick Fernandez.
The agreement was made on December 8 following direction by the city commission to conduct the investigation.
Fernandez is accused of accepting a $5,000 catering discount from the city backed restaurant, The Edison, as well as Florida State Football tickets from a city lobbyist. He is currently on paid administrative leave amid an ethics investigation by the Florida Commission on Ethics. That investigation is not expected to wrap up until March.
The firm’s investigation is to help the commission decide what to do in regards to Fernandez’s future employment.
According to the contract, the city will pay the firm $300 per hour. A report of findings is to be turned over to the city by January 25.
