LOWNDES CO., Ga. -- Kittens wearing tiny sombreros. It's all to celebrate 'Cinco De Meow' at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter.

Instead of half off margaritas, people could take half off their cat adoption fee.

They say this is a creative way to get forever families for 15 cats.

"They put their heads together and in a matter of minutes came up with 'It's going to be Cinco De Mayo, so why not Cinco De Meow," says Paige Dukes, Lowndes County Public Information Officer.

This was the Shelter's first time putting on the event.

"Everyone has loved the concept so much, that this is something we definitely plan on making an annual event, and plan to expand it next year when we have more time to plan," says Dukes.

If you are interested in fostering, sponsoring, or adopting any of these animals, stop by the Lowndes County Animal Shelter on Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard in Valdosta, or call (229) 671-2760.
