TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The City of Tallahassee will install new flashing yellow arrow signals at several intersections throughout the city.
The first batch of lights will be installed this Sunday at intersections along Park Avenue including Richview Road, Reece Park Lane and Victory Garden Drive.
Flashing yellow arrows are intended to make roadways safer and more efficient. According to the Federal Highway Administration, the lights can help reduce left-turn crashes by as much as 35 percent. The city also believes it will allow traffic engineers to better control variable traffic volumes.
When approaching a flashing yellow arrow, drivers are allowed to turn but must yield to pedestrians and oncoming traffic.
