TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Crews with the Tallahassee Fire Department remained on the scene of a fire at the International Book Mine for over 12 hours.

The fire broke out at the book store on Gaines Street just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday. Crews continued to spray water on the remains of the building until after 5:00 a.m. on Friday.

Officials said areas of Gaines Street were still blocked off Friday morning. A fire truck reportedly broke down in front of the store, causing streets to remain closed for several hours while the truck was repaired.

TFD says one person was inside the store when the fire started, but they made it out of the building safely. No other injuries were reported.

The International Book Mine store was founded in 2008 and housed more than 100,000 books. The Leon County Property Appraiser's website says the building was constructed in 1949.

Crews say damage to the building is extensive and it is likely to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
