Crime Watch: 21 murdered in Tallahassee this year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A deadly stabbing on Thursday and the discovery of a body on Friday have Tallahassee residents on edge.

In 2017 so far, 21 people have been murdered in Tallahassee in 19 separate incidents.

Here's a look at when and where the crimes occurred, and the victims lost to violence.

  • January 8 – Mary Gray, 40, was found shot and killed inside of a vehicle at the Leon Arms Apartments on Holton Street. Rickey Stevens was charged in the murder.

  • January 29 – Tiffany Nance, 33, was found dead in the Ochlockonee River Wildlife Management Area. DNA evidence taken from the scene led to the arrest of Bryon Massey, 38.

  • February 2 – Lester Denmark, 40, was killed in an overnight shooting at the Springfield Apartments on Joe Louis Street. No arrests have been made in the case.

  • April 30 – Terrence Walker, 49, died after being shot in the 1500 block of Brook Street. The case is currently in the hands of the State Attorney's Office and the shooter is claiming self-defense.

  • May 9 – Hoyt Birge, 32, was found dead in the trunk of a car parked at the U Club Apartments. Eight people – Jesse Fox, Britteny Guthrie, David Howard, Paige Vowell, Vicki Strickland, Page Briggs, Patrick Berrane, and Stanley West – were charged in the case.

  • June 6 – An attempted home invasion robbery at the College Club Townhomes on S. Adams Street ended with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old LaRon Fryson. Alvin Green, 17, and Tony Hill, 17, were charged in the case. Green was also injured in the shooting.

  • June 10 – Shomari Fuller, 26, and Nakenya Richardson, 17, were shot and killed in a car in the 3200 block of Tyson Green Way. Thyland Jones, 21, Kassiem McNeill, 20, and Miguel Martinez, 45, were charged in connection to the murders.

  • July 1 – 70-year-old Beulah Wright was found beaten and stabbed to death at a home in the 800 block of Putnam Drive. Police arrested Wright's son, Vincent Davis, for her murder.

  • July 25 – Devin Landers, 24, died from his injuries after a shooting at the Dixie Condos. Police arrested Lapadre Sharpe, 25, in connection to the murder.

  • August 5 – A shooting that ended near Call Street and Stadium Drive left 26-year-old Travis Wilson dead.

  • September 5 – 19-year-old Rosario Sanchez and 60-year-old Paula Portillo were found dead inside of a home in the 300 block of Mastic Lane. 19-year-old Malik Wade was charged in the murders.

  • September 13 – 21-year-old Andrew Glover III died following an early morning shooting in a parking lot in the 1900 block of West Tennessee Street.

  • September 19 – 19-year-old Keives Brooks died in a shooting in the 400 block of Putnam Drive. Suspects Reginald Brown, 21, Davaris Dawes, 18, and Demarlis Martin, 19, were arrested in the case.

  • September 24 – Taris Nickolas, 40, was killed in a shooting on Steele Drive near Grady Road. Calvin Holiday, 24, was charged in the murder.

  • October 10 – Antonio D. Randolph Jr., 19, died from a gunshot wound after being found lying in the street near Glenda Drive and Pepper Drive. Gerald Daniel, 23, and Remon Gainer, 22, were arrested in the case.

  • October 13 – A fatal shooting in the 1500 block of Crescent Hills Drive claimed the life of 28-year-old Alfred Akeem Johnson.

  • November 2 -- 27-year-old Joseph Jackson was killed in a stabbing. No arrests have been made but police are investigating the case as a domestic incident.

  • November 3 -- A homicide investigation was launched after the body of 38-year-old Kaylyn S. Van De Wostine was found on McArthur Street. No arrests have been made in the case.

  • November 3 -- 19-year-old Derrick L. Curtis Jr. was shot and killed in the 1100 block of South Magnolia Drive. No arrests have been made in the case.
