TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- It's giving Tuesday, a day that encourages folks to donate time and money to charity.
The Community Foundation of North Florida is trying to make sure those charitable donations are spent wisely. It just unveiled a new online directory of non-profits in our 10 county area.
Laura Harwin, the Director of Non-Profit Relations at the foundation, says the directory does not rate or recommend non-profits, but tries to provide data for donors to make their own decisions.
"This allows a better line of communication and more confidence that donors in our community can have in supporting the work that our non-profits are doing, because they're doing so many important things every day," Harwin said.
The local non-profit directory not only includes GuideStar transparency ratings, it provides detailed financial information for each charity and more specifics on their projects and results.
The directory can be accessed through the Community Foundation of North Florida's web site.
