TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department has made an arrest in an October crash on Old St. Augustine Road that killed one person.
20-year-old Azende Thompson, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested Wednesday and charged with vehicular homicide.
The fatal crash happened on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 3:26 a.m. One of the passengers in the vehicle, Tyrone Ivey Jr., died the next day at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
According to arrest documents, investigators determined that the car was traveling about 82 miles an hour at the time of the crash. The highest-posted speed on Old St. Augustine Road near the crash site is 45 mph.
TPD said, based on an interview with another passenger in the car, that Thompson had smoked marijuana before operating the vehicle. Police say a blood sample taken from Thompson after the crash revealed that he had THC in his system.
