TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Monday morning, senior citizens from around the capital city received meals from a few well-known local leaders.
Representatives from the Tallahassee Police Department, the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County Schools and the City Commission were just a few groups to come out and volunteer.
They helped deliver more than 100 hot, nutritious meals to seniors in need.
Bruce Gaines, from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, said programs like Meals on Wheels play a vital role in the community.
"I think every senior deserves an opportunity to have a hot meal, to have a conversation. I think these type of events help to prolong life,” said Gaines.
In total, Elder Care Services serves more than 600 seniors.
