TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Students at Killearn Lakes Elementary launched a weather balloon thanks to a grant from Walmart.
Students built the balloon system that will float into the atmosphere, and they will track temperature and how high it goes before it pops.
"It's very important because we want to instill the love of science and to feel that they can explore," said Karen Allen, a Killearn Lakes Elementary teacher. "They'll be doing different science activities pertaining to their grade level, so the kids are really excited about our weather balloon."
There's also a Go-Pro attached to the weather balloon so students will get to see pictures and videos of what it looks like thousands of feet into the sky.
